Prof Anthony V PowellHe graduated from the University of Oxford and, after postdoctoral work at Oxford, joined Heriot-Watt University as a lecturer in inorganic chemistry, where he was subsequently promoted to Reader and to Professor. In 2013, he joined the University of Reading as Head of Department in Chemistry. |

Dr Paz VaqueiroShe holds BSc and PhD degrees from the University of Santiago de Compostela and was awarded an EPSRC Advanced Research Fellowship (2004-2008) for the investigation of new thermoelectric materials. She was a lecturer at Heriot-Watt University (2008-2013) and in 2013 she joined the University of Reading as a lecturer in Materials Chemistry, where she was subsequently promoted to Associate Professor.Publication list |

Dr Son D. N. LuuSupervisor: Paz Vaqueiro Son joined our group in 2011 and completed his PhD in 2015. His project focused on oxychalcogenide thermoelectric materials, and was funded by the Energy Technology Partnership and European Thermodynamics Ltd. |

Dr Gabin GuélouSupervisors: Anthony Powell and Paz VaqueiroGabin completed his PhD in 2016 and is currently a postdoctoral researcher at CRISMAT (France). He holds a D.U.T. in Chemistry (Institut Universitaire et Technologique de Rouen, France) and an MChem in Chemistry (Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh). He first joined the solid-state chemistry group at Heriot-Watt in 2009 for his D.U.T. project, later in 2011 for his MChem project and finally for his PhD in 2012. For his PhD he investigated cost-efficient thermoelectric materials based on sulphides. |

Dr Jesús Prado-GonjalJesús finished his BSc and MSc studies in Chemistry at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid, and then he earned his PhD degree at the same University in the field of microwave –assisted synthesis of oxide materials. He joined this group in April 2014 as postdoctoral researcher in thermoelectric materials. His work was funded by the EPSRC project Identifying Cost Effective Routes To Optimised Energy Recovery For The Fuel Economy Of Vehicles |

Dr John LampkinSupervisors: Anthony Powell and Ann Chippindale John completed his PhD in January
2018. He obtained an MChem chemistry degree (with a year in
industry) at the University of Reading. His industry
placement was at Intrinsiq Ltd in Farnborough, synthesising
and characterising phosphor nanomaterials, whereas for his
final year project he investigated organic semiconductors of
tetrathienoacenes. His PhD project focused on the investigation of
antimony-based chalcogenides to form open-framework
structures,created through
solvothermal synthesis. |

Dr Panagiotis MangelisSupervisors: Anthony Powell and Paz VaqueiroPanagiotis completed his PhD in 2017. He has a BSc degree in Physics from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and an MSc degree in Materials for Sustainable and Renewable Energies from the Department of Chemistry of Heriot-Watt University, Edinburgh. His PhD project focused on the research of new high-performance thermoelectric materials, involving the synthesis, structural characterization and physical property measurements of a range of novel mixed-metal sulphides and selenides. |

Dr Sebastian LongSupervisors: Anthony Powell, Paz Vaqueiro and Steve Hull (ISIS)Sebastian completed his PhD in 2020. His PhD project involved the synthesis, charecterisation and property measurements on copper sulphide based thermoelectric materials. He is also working on a collaborative project with the ISIS neutron facility that will allow for in-situ power-factor/ neutron diffraction experiments on the POLARIS beam line. |
