Welcome to the web pages of the Solid State Chemistry Group
A major research theme in our group is materials for energy. This encompasses thermoelectric materials with applications in energy recovery, as well as materials for CO2 separation.
We also carry out complementary research into novel electronic and
magnetic materials, low-dimensional solids, hybrid inorganic-organic
systems and porous semiconductors. Much of our research focuses on
non-oxide materials, and in particular chalcogenides (sulphides,
selenides and tellurides) and intermetallics (pnictides). For the
structural characterisation of these materials, we make extensive
use of large central facilities in the UK (ISIS)
and France (ILL).
