Supported the February 2009 mission of the Cyborg Astrobiologist (with Lorenz Wendt, Christoph Gross, Sebastian Walter, Bernard Foing, Alexandra Bonnici et al.) at the Mars Desert Research Station in Utah.

Supported the organization of the September 2005 mission to the Rio Tinto by the Pathfinder Program in Environmental Sustainability (Washington University in St. Louis).

Supported Jens Ormö in his magnetometry field studies (2005 and 2010) near Sirente, in central Italy, of a putative field of craters caused by meteors.

Conducted the first "geological" field-tests of the Cyborg Astrobiologist computer-vision algorithm-development system in Rivas Vaciamadrid with geologists Jens Ormö and Enrique Diaz Martinez in March 2004 and June 2004. Further Field Studies in Guadalajara in December 2004, January 2005, and February 2005.

Developed and flew with a near-infrared spectrometer for the airplane-borne NASA Leonids Mission, flown in November 2002.

Participated in the 6.5 meter MMT Prime Focus first light in November 1999.

Participated in the December 1997, January 1998, February 1998 nulling interferometer (ANI) observing runs at the MMT on Mt. Hopkins, and the February 2000 nulling interferometer (BLINC) at the 90 inch telescope on Kitt Peak.

Participated in the October 1996 adaptive optics observing run, and coordinated and participated in the February 1997, March 1997, May 1997, September 1997 adaptive optics observing runs at the MMT on Mt. Hopkins.

Participated in Travis Metcalfe's 1994 observing run at the 61 inch telescope on Mt. Bigelow to study contact binary stars.

Participated in the July 1992 NASA northern balloon campaign in Lynn Lake, Manitoba, working on the IMAX experiment with researchers from U. Arizona, Caltech, Goddard Space Flight Center, NMSU, and Siegen.

Conducted a dark matter particle search on Mt. Lemmon from 1989-1993.
