MAGIC Postgraduate Student Conference

Wednesday 12th - Friday 14th January 2011
The MAGIC Postgraduate Student Conference is to be hosted by the Department of Mathematics and Statistics at the University of Reading between Wednesday 12th and Friday 14th January 2011.

The Conference aims to bring young Mathematics postgraduates from across the UK together for an informal and interesting conference. The conference also provides the ideal opportunity for students to present their work to others.

Plenary lectures, student talks and posters will cover the following topics:
  • Stochastics and Applications
  • Data Assimilation and Inverse Problems
  • Geometry
  • Analysis
  • Partial Differential Equations
The speakers invited to give the plenary lectures include:
  • Prof Alexei Likhtman (Reading)
  • Dr Ian McIntosh (York)
  • Prof Frank Nijhoff (Leeds)
  • Prof Michael Levitin (Reading)
  • Prof Andrew Stuart (Warwick)
Additional talks will be given by
  • Dr Tony Gardiner (Birmingham) on Mathematics in Education
  • Prof Peter Grindrod (Reading) on Mathematics in Industry
The conference will be held in the Nike Lecture theatre in the Agriculture building on the University of Reading's Whiteknights campus. The timetable for the conference is avaliable here. Specific times for student talks are avaliable here.
