An engineering design story (Debbie Sterling TEDx)

Natural and artifical robotics

This course has two parts,

  1. part taught by Yoshi Hayashi will look at the mathematical foundations of serial chain linkages.
  2. part taught by William Harwin, will apply these principles, along with other ideas in robotics in a rapid prototyping exercise and two novel robot designs.

Please note Due to the uncertainty of dealing with covid measures, it may be necessary to alter any part of this course at short notice.

Part 1 Robot Kinematics (YH)

Week 3: Introduction to forward kinematics I
Week 4: Introduction to forward kinematics II
Week 5: Introduction to inverse kinematics
Week 6: Half term
Week 7: Introduction to Jacobian
Week 8: Current topics in robotics (Tunde)
Week 9: Summary

Part 2 Engineering design challenge (WH)

Sessions for the 2021 Engineering design challenge will be as follows

Sessions will be (preferably) on Microsoft Teams, please look for the event in your MS Teams calendar or look for an email with the link. The 'fall back' will be to use Blackboard Ultra.

There are two engineering design challenges and a short presentation.
