Education
Research Interests
Over the years, I have gained wide experience in
automatic control. I have been forturnate to be able to participate and
contribute in the various stages of the development of control
techniques, from the conceptual development of algorithms and models,
to their real time implementation in laboratory and industrial
applications. My research has covered many areas in automatic control,
including optimal control, predictive control, nonlinear systems, state
estimation, system identification, adaptive control, neural network
based control, and fuzzy control. My work has encompassed various
application areas, including power systems, chemical processes,
electromechanical systems, robotics, autonomous systems, and aerospace.
I have been involved in several funded research and
technology transfer projects, and I have been fortunate to collaborate
with many colleagues from the UK and beyond both in pursuing research
grants, and in managing the projects once they have started.
I recently published PSOPT, an open source C++ software
package for solving general optimal control problems. Some computer
code produced over the years can be found here.
