This journal was founded in 1983 by the publishers E & F N Spon, in conjunction with the founder editor Professor John Bennett at The University of Reading. Under Professor Bennett's editorship the journal doubled in size from three issues per year in 1983 to six issues per year in 1991. Ranko Bon and Will Hughes took over the editorship of the journal in 1992, and Will Hughes became sole editor in 2003.
Construction Management and Economics is the leading international refereed journal in the field. The editorial policy is simple. We aim to publish the best papers from around the world which add to the collective understanding of the field. The quality of papers is judged, anonymously, by four acknowledged experts. As well as papers, we encourage 'notes' which either offer rejoinders to earlier papers, or contribute some specific observation or lesson. Through these notes we hope to encourage academic debate in the pages of the journal. In addition to papers and notes, we solicit book reviews and publish a list of forthcoming events. These help to keep the academic community informed and aware of current developments in all fields affecting construction. In these ways we are seeking to make the journal a lively and responsive organ which represents and stimulates the academic community. Since 2000, the journal has carried eight issues per year.
